Top 100 online resources. The first, is a blog I came across today, is called Basement workshop This is more for ages 8+ and a fantastic site for downloads and video’s for Science. Today, we downloaded a PDF on the brain hemisphere, which you make into a hat! A great way to learn and have fun.
This is another newly found FREE resource for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the first video lesson we watched, all about the brain, which is also where Basement workshop was recommended by. It is hosted by an Award-winning teacher/actor streaming free science shows and lessons via Facebook, she has such great energy and her passion really shines through in her work, so go take a look if you haven’t already found her.
I would say this site is more for high school aged children. This site is an online examination of human anatomy and physiology. The resources are free but they also have a partner-Ken hub which is a paid version.
Crash course is a Youtube channel that post weekly videos. The Crash Course team has produced more than 32 courses on a wide variety of subjects, including organic chemistry, literature, world history, biology, philosophy, theatre, ecology, and many more!
This is another Youtube channel, which I think is fairly new as it doesn’t have many video’s on there as yet but what are on there, are worth a watch if your child is into animals. Once a month, hosts Hank Green and Sarah Suta introduce you to a new bizarre beast and explore the many answers to this question.
Science world is a FREE e-learning based curriculum for children aged 5-12 in Math and Science. Their courses are available online and offline but always free. Contains 213 courses that cover all science learning goals for primary grade kindergarten to year 6.
Roman enjoyed watching these video’s and learnt a lot from them. Peekaboo is a cheerful and colourful animation for Children! Specially designed for kids as they explore the World of Kids Educational Videos, Classic English songs, Phonics Songs, Lullabies and more! This channel is aimed for the younger children, although I have to say I enjoyed them too!
Labster is a company dedicated to developing fully interactive advanced lab simulations based on mathematical algorithms that support open-ended investigations. They combine these with gamification elements such as an immersive 3D universe, storytelling and a scoring system which stimulates students’ natural curiosity and highlights the connection between science and the real world. There is a charge of between £4-$20 which gives you full access.
This is a Science website for children, developed by the American museum of natural history. It is filled with games, stories, video’s and activities around Biology, Human cultures and Earth and space. It is also another FREE resource!
