Music lessons online

There are so many apps/platforms for you to provide for your kids to have music lessons online.

You don’t have to own an instrument in order to learn to play an instrument. I had some great fun researching my list to give to you and have found some great platforms for the kids to give a go too!

I will add a variety of apps and platforms to accommodate a variety of ages for you.

Recursive Arts:

This is a great FREE platform, I would say it is more 8 years+ but check it out and see what you think!

The piano simulator is great fun, it also helps to support hand eye co-ordination and motor skills, as you have to hit the correct key when the light turns green.

I found the registration for the site really simple to do and got active with the site less than 5 minutes.

Also:

virtual drumming:

This is a great platform to learn the virtual drums!

One thing I did find was that I had to download the Yahoo browser in order for it to work for me, it wouldn’t work on Chrome. Bit of a pain in the butt, however if you don’t mind doing this, it is a great platform to use!

It is a FREE platform to use, again, I would say it is for the older children- 8 years+. They offer a beginners guide, which teaches the rudimental and the fundamentals of drumming, along with so much more and it also offers lessons for an intermediate student. Go check it out.

Class Central:

With 1000+ courses around music available – For FREE! This is a fantastic site to visit! With certified and non-certified courses you will have an array of choices to choose from.

BBC Primary music KS1:

The songs and music activities in Traditional Tales are inspired by three stories from around the world: Tiddalik the Frog (an Aboriginal story from Australia); Lakshmi and the Clever Washerwoman (a traditional Hindu story from India) and Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock (an Afro-Caribbean folk-tale). The resources for each story include songs to learn – with presenters Andy Day and Rebecca Keatley of CBeebies; animations of the story; music activities based on the music for the song; listening music to appraise and a wealth of activity sheets to print.

Classics for kids:

Suitable from ages 5-11 years old. This is a great site for your kids, giving information and history around composers, games, activity sheets, books and media.

A-Z homeschooling:

Along with a variety of subjects, A-Z home schooling offers FREE online music lessons, stream or download music, learn the history of music, music theory, music plan collections, music games, music and learning and more!

PBS kids:

This site is for the younger children from ages 3-8 years old. With 20+ games to choose from, varying from Sesame street, Elmo’s world, Cat in the hat and much more, your kids can have great fun while learning music!

Guitar tricks

At Guitar Trick, they make learning how to play guitar a lot of fun! The instructors cover each section of a song slowly at first, and once you get each part down you get to play along with a professional backing band. For difficult songs they offer a ‘Songs Made Easy’ version for beginners, which is simplified to the basic chords and one guitar part. Each song includes accurate guitar tabs as well as standard music notation. Try it for free. The site gets you to create an account but does not show prices.

Marty music

A great Youtube channel that helped teach Mckenzie guitar, he highly recommends this channel!

Marty Music is the premier destination for guitar instruction on YouTube.
