Twinkl: Our recommendations-Frees and paid places and resources.

Twinkl I find absolutely brilliant, it has such a vast array of topics available for you to print out, activity worksheets, presentations to download, handwriting worksheets, you name it, they probably have it! Our recommendations.

What I also like is that they have something for everyone, from foundation stage up to 16 years old. Twinkl offers 3 membership options: Core, Extra and Ultimate.

I have the ultimate membership, where you can choose the age range and receive a free book within the age range you have chosen for your child. Ultimate also gives you access to all the resources, including worksheets etc for my elder children of 15 and 16.

Doodle math Our recommendations-Frees and paid places and resources.

With the Doodle math, you also get a free app to use- Doodle times tables, this link will be attached to the site. It is a great way to monitor your child’s progress and are also linked to the UK National Curriculum. Roman had great fun with these and gives me piece of mind that I know he is progressing well, your child can collect stars and buy certain things, for example, if your child collects 20 stars for getting the answers correct, he can go into store and buy a piece to build a robot. Once the robot is built, he can then but accessories or upgrade parts of the robot, there are a few things they are able to collect, so Roman really enjoyed collecting the stars just so he can upgrade a part of his robot.

You also get email updates to keep you up to date on your child’s progress.

The app covers Key stage levels 1 and 2. They are best used on a phone or tablet, not on a laptop.

Again Doodle English, I am also impressed with and Roman got on well with. You also get a free app of doodle spell when you sign up, this link will be attached to the site. It is a great way to monitor your child’s progress and are also linked to the UK National Curriculum.

There is a monthly fee of £5.99, which is excellent for what you get. Your child can use the app offline and upload their progress later, I like this because he can learn on the go if needed.

Doodle spell will construct a personalised spelling programme for each individual child, based around their own strengths and weaknesses. If you want to set a specific word list, you can create this through your parent dashboards and they will appear in the app.

Studyladder

Study ladder offers a variety of subjects, ranging from ages 4-12yrs.

They specialise in English, Mathematics, Science literacy, information and communication technology and health, safety and citizenship. There are more subjects within the platform too, such as arts and music, health and safety, ICT, pintables and so much more.

Your child can work their way through different levels and achieve certificates, which is great, who doesn’t love a bit of recognition? Roman loves to achieve his certificates.

You can set work for your child to complete under the learning pod. There is a yearly subscription of $88 per year.

Duolingo

You can choose from 35 languages! This app is also used in schools, it is fun and easy to navigate, testing your child’s knowledge as they learn. I even use it myself! We are currently learning Spanish! Oh and its FREE! 😉

For Maths and English, ages ranging from reception up to year 13.

For a family monthly membership, it is £12.99- Both Maths and English or you can choose either maths/english at £7.99 each.

We don’t use this any more but Roman enjoyed it when he used it. You can add an additional child for £2 per month each.

Anna enjoys using Alison.com, there are a multitude of free courses on there. She is in the middle of completing a diploma in legal studies at the moment and Customer service skills.

Wattpad.com

This is a great platform Anna loves to write, again, I think this would be better for teens and budding writer’s, she has had over 20,000 reads on her book (proud parents alert!)

Inkitt.com

A platform that Anna likes to use for reading but she has said she prefers Wattpad.

Kidztype

What a fantastic platform for teaching kids to type and have fun do it! Roman really enjoys this site, I love to hear him laughing and learning and this site does just that. Did I mention it is FREE!

Great platform to help your children learn to read and Suitable for children ages 2⁠–⁠13.

Reading Eggs covers the five essential components of reading success: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
